Rebuild Our Sierra has partnered with the national non-profit, OperationTinyHome (OperationTinyHome.org), to bring assistance to those who have lost their homes in the Creek Fire. Thanks to Operation Tiny Home, all we need is $30K to get each recipient into their tiny homes.
Our first recipient of a tiny home is a disabled veteran, who saved up and bought his dream retirement property. Unfortunately, the Creek Fire stole this dream. He has since been hopping from place to place, trying not to overstay at any one person’s house.
Lonnie is a unique case as he lived tiny and off-grid before the fire. He will now be hooked up to power, but he’s still living tiny! He is a veteran who, unfortunately, was recently diagnosed with Parkinsons, and he does not let that stop him! He is ready to get to work and has helped immensely in this tiny home project, and he’s started the cleanup process on his land.
He received his tiny home on July 9, 2021 and now has a place to call his own again! We are in the process of getting him situated in his new home so that he can focus on what the rest of his property needs.
We have a list of several other families who are interested in this unique solution to a long term housing challenge. We also have a list of those that would like to get back onto their property while they navigate the rebuild process, a very long and extensive project.
Your help in this program is greatly appreciated. Anything is a great push in the right direction. Please donate today if you can! https://www.rebuildoursierra.org/donate/
